BHS STAR Teachers and STAR Students
The STAR program began during the 1955-1956 school
year. However, Berrien High School did not begin
participation until 1959. An article about the program
appeared in The Nashville Herald on March 10, 1966.
Here is an excerpt from page 3: "Although the STAR activity
was originated in 1956 by the State Chamber of Commerce, it was not
until the formation of the Berrien County Chamber of Commerce that
local participation was begun. The first Berrien STAR pair
were selected in 1959, and each year there-after outstanding
student-teacher teams have been named."
